So what’s just as good as soybean cake for lunch? Korean-style sushi and fishcake

With the sun shining overhead in the Seattle area on Friday morning, my family and I ran some errands.

We were short on lunch ideas. So, we dropped by Southgate Oriental Grocery, a Korean store, in Bellevue, Wash. to grab some rice crackers.

We spotted kimbop, which some people call kimbap and is Korean-style sushi, and some fishcake. We walked out with our lunch.

Delicious.

The fishcake was tender and chewy.

The kimbop was colorful. It was packed with egg, tofu skin, imitation crab, spinach and yellow radish and wrapped in seaweed.

The kimbop was only $3.50. The fishcake was about $3.00.

And yes, we dipped pieces into a mixture of wasabi and soy sauce.

We also had some squid and seaweed with the meal.

All told, it was a refreshing meal to enjoy with the Friday sun. If you’re interested in visiting Southgate Oriental Grocery, it’s located at 3900 Factoria Blvd. SE in Bellevue, Wash.
