Whenever I need some visual or artistic inspiration, I check in on UPPERCASE in Canada.

They do a fantastic job of keeping up with visual arts and came across this highly-watched, stop-motion video by Bang-Yao Liu.

Liu, a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, created a really fun, bright piece of work, as you see. Liu also has a YouTube channel, which features another video about making the work above.

The video you see above took three months of planning, four days of shooting and more than 6,000 Post-it Notes.

Those colorful, sticky notes have captured the imagination of generations.

There’s much history to the product invented by Spencer Silver and Art Fry and made by 3M.

I use the word engagement after watching a video featuring John Maeda, the RISD president. In it, he talks about how design objects, and certainly art, engage people.

As a former journalist, I’ve always thought friendly, intellectual engagement was crucial. It’s why you ask strangers questions, interview professors and others and travel to new places.

In the end, you’re always going to learn something about someone, a place or an item. That always helps in the short and long term.

There have been other Post-it Note videos and art, including this one below. It’s featured on the Office Supplies Blog.

But Liu’s work is a nice, bright addition to the Post-it Note scene.
