About Tofu Watch
Tofu Watch is a listings guide for the hours outside work. Some of those hours are spent on the sofa, deciding what to stream and wondering why the picture keeps buffering. Others are spent out of the house, at a concert, a cinema, a market or a city two hours down the line. And a fair share go into keeping the home and the small business running smoothly enough that there is free time left at all. We write about all three.
What you will find here
- Screens at home. The largest part of the archive covers internet television: how it works, how to get a steady picture, what it means for sports fans, accessibility and viewers in different countries. Start with Streaming or the broader Technology section.
- Nights out and nights in. Concerts, local events, cinema trips and long film days at home, gathered under Events & Entertainement and Movies.
- Short trips and good food. City breaks, restaurant kitchens and the practical side of spending time abroad, in Travel.
- Home and business upkeep. Lighting, plumbing, sensors, awnings, windows and advertising: the unglamorous jobs that make everything else easier.
How we write
Every article is meant to be useful on the day you read it. That means steps you can follow, questions to ask before you pay for something, and honest notes on where a choice depends on your own situation. We avoid invented numbers and dramatic claims. When something varies by country, provider or venue, we say so and point you to the place that sets the rules.
Some pieces in the archive were written with or for outside businesses, such as a florist, a cleaning company or a provider of a particular service. They are edited for clarity like everything else, and they sit in the same sections as our own articles. Read them as one perspective among several, and compare before you buy.
Who is behind it
Tofu Watch is put together by a small team writing under pen names. None of us claims a professional title or a licence, and we would rather show our working than ask for trust. You can read how the work is shared out on Behind the Listings, and how we decide what makes it into a guide on What Earns a Recommendation.
Where to start
If you are new, three pieces give a good sense of the range: planning a city break, getting a smoother stream at home and preventive plumbing habits. For longer evenings with the archive, our Long Reads Shelf collects the most detailed articles in one place.
Spotted something out of date, or have an event, a film question or a home problem you would like us to look at? Send a tip. Reader notes shape what we write next.

In our own words
Why we keep writing the guide
Three desks, three reasons, each in one line.
“Most people do not need more choices for the evening; they need a better way to pick one.” — Fiametta
“A good trip often turns on a single well-chosen afternoon, and that is worth writing about.” — Teodric
“Looking after a home or a shop is mostly small, boring jobs done on time, and someone should explain them kindly.” — Columba
